Research of Vertical Stratification and Synchronous Monitoring Buoy of Nearshore Water Temperature

The sea water temperature is one of the most important parameters in oceanographic condition research., This pa-per introduces methodologies in stratifying nearshore water from vertical profiles based on the GHRSST definition of the sea surface temperature and improves the buoy monitoring system by taking the influence of water depth and the tides into con-sideration. By bounding small floating ball at the bottom of the water temperature sensor, it prevents the floating ball from touching the ground during low water slack. In order to monitoring seawater temperature synchronously in vertical profiles,the system ensures the consistency of the vertical profile of sensor in a certain depth range. The buoy monitoring system is successfully applied in synchronous online monitoring the seawater temperature of thermal discharge in Zhanjiang harbor,through which, the seawater temperature in vertical profiles was obtained. By encrypting monitor points in horizontal profiles,further researches can be focused on analyzing temperature field distribution as the basis of understanding both thermal dis-charge currency and the effects of a water temperature rise has to the marine biology.
