Characteristics of Dissolved Organic Matters in Papermaking Wastewater by Electrolysis-Hydrolysis-DMBR Process

UV-vis spectroscopy, gel chromatography and three-dimensional fluorescence spectrum were used to the study of characterizing dissolved organic matter(DOM). The results showed that the organic pollutants could be effectively removed through the above process. The rates of COD and TOC's removal were 91.1% and 89.6% respectively. UV-vis spectra and molecular weight distribution showed that the refractory macromolecules were decomposed into several small degradable molecules after the treating of hydrolytic acidification. Three-dimensional fluorescence spectroscopy showed that the DOM mainly had three fluorescence peaks, including the high excitation wavelength tryptophan fluorescence peak(peak A),the ultraviolet region fluvic acid fluorescence peak(peak B) and the visible light fluvic acid peak(peak C). After the treating of electrolytic, the peak B got a trend of being peak. The gradient of peak A was significantly increased by the treating of hydrolytic acidification. Finally, the values of fluorescence index(FI) and biogenic index(HIX) and humification index(BIX) indicated that the DOM was mainly produced by microbial metabolism.
