Heavy Metals in Urban Soil:Spatial Distribution,Source and Pollution Assessment

In the present study, the heavy metals(HMs) including copper, nickel, lead, zinc, chromium, mercury and arsenic in urban soil collected in 10 434 sites from 60 different cities were explored based on the bibliometrics analysis. The spatial distributions, pollution classifications and sources of HMs in urban soil were studied. The results showed that the concentrations of Cu, Ni, Pb, Zn, Cr, Cd, Hg, As in urban soil were strongly varied, and the same observation were found in the spatial patterns between of them. It was found that Hg, As, Cu, Pb and Cd had seriously polluted the investigated soil compared to the other elements Ni, Cr, Zn. Anghropic activities including the metallic industry point-source emission were the main contributor to the accumulated HMs into the urban soil. Hg, As and Cd in urban soil were associated with coal combustion, while the sources of Cr, Ni, Cu, Pb and Zn were attributed to not only the coal combustion but also the emissions from the metallic industries. Therefore, more attention should be paid, especially the HMs Pb and Cu in the west and middle of China.
