A Study on Optimum Fitting of Taylor's Power Law Model by Genetic Algorithms

Taylor's power law model is one of the most important tools for the study on population spatial patterns. Transforming the power function to provide a mathematical equivalent linear equation is a usual method for fitting Taylor's power law model, it is not a optimum fitting to the umtransformed function. In this paper, Genetic Algorithms is introduced for derterming the values of the parameters (a b ) of Taylor's power law model,which will give the mininlum least-square fit to a set of data. The comparision of present methods shows that the Genetic Algorithms is superior to the usual method in practice with its simplicity and precision.
