Dichocrocis punctierais Guenee is a major pest of Pinus massonians var tongmiangensis in Fujian,Chian. The population reproduces three or four generations each year in Fujian, and overwinters as the third or fourth-instar larvae in the needles-twisted bag. There are generally five instars for the larva which begins to act in early March the following year. The larvae feed on the needles and send out their silk to roll the needles on the tender twigs into a small bag, resulting in the twig dieback and eventually affectin growth and deveopment of the plant. The effective measures to controll the larvae are spraying with 40% Omethoate emulsion(1:1500,V/V),80% DDVP emulsion(1: 1000,V/V),or mixed solution of 40% Omethoate emulsion(1:1500,V/V)and 80% DOVP emulsion(1:1000,V/V)on the infected shoots.
