Formula Selection of Light Media for Economically Large Container Seedling Cultivation of Phoebe bournei

A test of signifiance of difference was carried out on applying types of supplementary media through two-factor random grouping,analysis of variance and multiple comparative analysis.The result showed that the types of supplementary media for large container seedling of biennial Phoebe bournei had no significant impact on the seedling height,diameter growth,biomass accumulation per plant,overground and underground biomass acculumation and allocation.The ratio of supplementary media resulted in very significant difference on the seedling height,diameter,whole biomass,overground and underground biomass,and root crown ratio.The result showed that the interaction of types and ratio of supplementary media brought forth significant difference on seedling height,diameter,biomass,overground biomass,root crown ratio and quality index,but no significant difference on underground biomass.A complex appraisal of multi-targets decision proved that the formula of media ratio of peat soil∶perlite being 0.7∶0.3,or peat soil∶wood mash being 0.8∶0.2,or peat soil∶shaff being 0.7∶0.3(all in bulk ratio) is economically optimal and is recommended to be expanded and applied.
