Preliminary Effect of Castanopsis uraiana (Hay.) Kanehira et Hatusima Container Nursery and Mixed Afforestation

Castanopsis uraiana(Hay.) Kanehira et Hatusima is an indigenous broad-leaved tree species in Ninghua County,and it is one of the Fujian Provincial rare and endangered plants.In order to better breed and develop the Castanopsis uraiana(Hay.) Kanehira et Hatusima,the author conducted preliminary experiments on its artificial seedlings and planting techniques on cutover land and investigated the initial results of planting.The results showed that Castanopsis uraiana(Hay.) Kanehira et Hatusima could be artificially seeded,and after being treated with a non-woven bag to grow the seedlings,the survival rate was up to 95%,and the rate of outplanting was over 80%.It is suitable for artificial planting on cutover land,and could be promoted as an excellent broad-leaved tree species mixed with Chinese fir and masson pine.The survival rate of seedlings artificially bred by non-woven bag could reach more than 96%;slope positions had certain influence on its growth,and those on the middle and lower slopes were better than those on the upslope,but it reported good growth on the middle,lower and up slopes.
