Initial Study on the Runoff and Sediment Reduction Effect by Different Soil and Water Conservation Measures in the Purple Soil Areas of Ninghua County,Fujian Province

By using the location observation,it was quantitatively analyzed the characteristics of runoff generation and soil erosion under the natural rainfall condition in the runoff plots with under six different measures including slope to terraced field + Myrica rubra + Paspalum notatum( C1),slope to terraced field + Pachyrhizus + Paspalum notatum( C2),hillside ditch + fish-scale pits + Lonicera japonica( C3),straight planting + camellia oleifera( C4),slub ditch + arbor and shrub and herb( C5) and no soil conservation measure( CK),etc. The results show that:(1) the monthly runoff amounts,sediment yields and rainfall volume showed the correlation at certain degrees,respectively;(2) the runoff amounts and sediment yields in runoff plots with soil and water conservation measures were smaller than those in runoff plots without soil and water conservation measures,respectively;(3) in 5 runoff plots with the soil conservation measures,the monthly mean runoff amounts were 0. 32 m~3,0. 36 m~3,0. 33 m~3,0. 96 m~3 and 0. 34 m~3,respectively,and the monthly mean sediment yields were 0. 30 kg,0. 61 kg,0. 26 kg,0. 89 kg,0. 33 kg and 3. 97 kg,respectively;(4) in 5 runoff plots with the soil conservation measures,the runoff reducing rate were 77. 78%,75. 28%,77.36%,33. 33% and 76. 25%,respectively,and the sediment reducing rate were 92. 34%,84. 63%,93. 45%,77.68% and 91. 79%. C4 had the obvious lowest effect on reduction of runoff and sediment yield.
