Sintering Technique for Preparing the K_2Ti_6O_(13) Whiskers

Potassium hexatitanate whiskers were synthesized by sintering mixtures of K2CO3 and TiO2 with different molar ration at different synthesizing and holding time.The morphology and phase of the potassium hexatitanate whiskers prepared were measured by SEM and XRD respectively.Experimental results showed that potassium hexatitanate whiskers(a main phase of K2Ti6O13) of high purity were obtained when the molar ration of TiO2and K2CO3was 5.5∶l,and the sintering condition was at 1200 ℃ for 3 h.
