Fabrication of NiCo_2O_4 Nanocrystal Through Stearic Acid Gel Method

Magnetic nanoparticles of nickel cobaltite were successfully prepared by a stearic acid gel method.The precursor of product was studied by infrared(IR) spectroscopy and thermogravimetric analysis(TG-DTG).The influence of calcination temperature on the structure of the product was investigated by X-ray diffraction(XRD).The particle size,micromorphology and magnetism performance of the calcined powder were examined by transmission electron microscopy(TEM) and vibrating sample magnetometer(VSM).The results show that single-phase NiCo2O4 nanocrystals with a narrow size distribution of 6 to 12 nm and a average particle size of 9 nm can be obtained by thermal decomposition of the precursor(stearic acid gel) at 380 ℃ for 6 h.The coercivity and the saturation magnetization of the resultant product are 147 Oe and 2.22 emu·g-1,respectively,at the magnetic field of 20 kOe.
