A Review of the Existing Qing Dynasty’s Fujian Local Chronicles

YANG Wen-xin(Department of Politics and History, Fujian Institute of Education, Fuzhou 350025, China)
Qing Dynasty was the prosperous period in the history of local chronicle building. There now exist 175 volumes of Qing Dynasty’s Fujian local chronicles, including the general chronicle, the palace chronicle, the state chronicle, the county chronicle, the local government chronicle, the town chronicle, the village chronicle, and the city administrative chronicle. So far as these local chronicles are concerned, they both reflected their own characteristics and revealed their insufficiency. Therefore, it is of positive significance to study the existing Qing Dynasty’s Fujian local chronicles because it will help understand the cultural history of our province, summarize experience and compile the local chronicles in the new period.
