Production of nitrogenous austenitic stainless steel by powder forging

A technique of producing nitrogenous stainless steel is introduced in this paper. It includes the following procedures:canning with nitrided steel powder→sintering→sealing the can→forging . This method is simple and easy to operate. It does not have any special need for the processing devices. The tightness of the nitrogenous austenitic stainless steel produced by this technology can top the level above 99%. The nitrogen content is accordant with the definition of nitrogenous steel and its tensile properties are close to those of the materials produced by powder injection moulding and high pressure melting method.
