Effects of the content of the nano-SiO_2 on the tribology performance of the Cu-based friction materials

The nano-SiO2 was added into the Cu-based wet friction material by the powder metallurgy technology.The effects of the content of the nano-SiO2 on the properties of friction and wear of friction materials were investigated using friction tester for wet friction material.The results indicate that the dynamic friction coefficient and the wear rates of the materials decrease firstly,and then increase subsequently with increasing of the mass fraction of the nano-SiO2 from 0 to 1.5%.The heat resistance of the friction materials increases with the increasing of nano-SiO2.When nano-SiO2 content is 0.75%,the friction coefficient of friction material is high and stable,the wear resistance and heat durability are excellent.
