Tribological properties of NiCrWRE coatings coupling with SAE52100 steel under ball-disc reciprocating sliding

NiCrWRE alloy powders were thermally sprayed on to a 45 carbon steel substrate.Tribological and wear properties of coatings were tested under SRV reciprocating sliding test(ball-disc contact).The results show that friction coefficient and wear rates of NiCrWRE alloy coatings are lower.The wear mechanism of NiCrWRE alloy coatings is micro-plowing at low sliding speed and light load,and then transforms to adhesive wear and abrasive wear at high sliding speed and heavier load.It is concluded that the oxidizing film formed on the worn surface makes a contribution to an increase in the coating wear resistance.
