COMBINATION MECHANICAL PROPERTIES OF POWDER FORGED STEEL WITH MEDIAN AND HIGH CARBON CONTENTS

Combination mechaniCal properties of Fe-2Ni-0. 5Mo--xC and Fe-2Cu-xC powder forged steel with median and high carbon contents after quenching and t6mpering treatment have been studied. The Fe-2Ni-0. 5Mo-0. 6C POwder forged steel made from 4600 alloy powder and the Fe-2Cu -0. 5C powder forged steel mode from water atomized iron powder have good combination mechanical properties. The former has an ultimate tensile strength of 1570MPa, a hardness of HRC 45.2 and an impact toughness of 31. 4J/cm2,and the later has an ultimate tensile strength of 1090MPa,a hardness of HRC 40.7 and an impact toughness of 38. 0J/cm2. They can satisfy demands for structural parts with high Strength, good toughness and superior wear resistance.
