Applying the Downscoping Search Mode in Patent Search of Chemical Engineering Devices Filed

The number of patent applications of chemical engineering industry has rapidly increased recent years. Patent search related to chemical engineering devices filed is a difficult technical field in patent search work. This article analyzes the difficulties including the difficulty of selecting the classification number and the difficulty of expressing the keywords when searching for patents in chemical engineering devices filed.The conventional search methods easily lead to miss the appropriate documents. Given the searching difficulties in the chemical engineering industry filed, this article further studies applying the downscoping search mode in patent search of chemical engineering devices filed. Firstly confirm a wider searching scope containing potential documents by means of applicants, superordinate classification numbers, extended classification numbers, and the most basic keywords; and then gradually reduce the number of documents by further limited searching elements to aim the most proximal document.
