Adoption of Lung Absorption Type for Radionuclides Based upon a National Standard

A quick estimation of the committed effective dose to nuclear incident victims allows a timely treatment and intervention.In this paper,the committed effective dose to the public in cities of China during Fukushima nuclear accident was estimated based upon a Chinese national standard(GB 18871—2002).We introduced then a new model for the respiratory trace adopted in the standard about dose coefficients,and also proposed improvements to it in adopting a certain lung absorption type:(1) In table-B3 the absorption type for occupational exposure to radionuclides can be referred to the table-B5 with lung absorption types for various chemical forms of the 89 elements.In table-B3,the absent data about Hydrogen,carbon and sulfur can be complemented by ICRP Publication No.68.(2) In table-B7,the lung absorption type for public exposure can be referred to the relevant ICRP Publication listed in the table-B8.(3) About public exposure to the remaining 60 radio nuclides,ICRP Publication No.71 suggests type M until further information is available.
