The Management Principles and Methods of Cultural Ecological Reserves——A Study on Guangdong's Culture Ecological Reserve Practice

China has set up 21 national level cultural and ecological reserves, which is the initiative practice of safeguarding intangible cultural heritage. Since there has limited experience on integrated conservation approach in the world, we have great challenges in management. With the deepening of safeguarding of intangible cultural heritage, the Ministry of Culture of China puts forward the idea that people, heritage and the daily life should be well coordinated in these reserves and aims at setting up the cultural ecological reserves which should be "varied in cultural heritage, of highly cultural atmosphere, with local characters and benefits for the public" in 2017. This paper focuses on Guangdong's management practice in cultural ecological reserves, by discussing approaches of integrated conservation, urbanization and social mobilization, and further raises the urgent questions and our considerations.
