CHEN Pei-yi;WANG Lin;School of Humanities and Education, Foshan University;
Under the Belt and Road Initiative, business talents with international competitiveness are in great demand. Currently there are many assessment standards for business English, which are of different features.This paper will, under the "Belt and Road" perspective, conduct a comparative analysis between BEC, TOEIC,ETTBL and Business English Proficiency Standard by applying the critical language test theory, business English ability module and communicative language test theory. This paper finds out that BEC and TOEIC have better acceptance but did not reflect the "Belt and Road" initiative; ETTBL and Business English Proficiency Standard have good time characteristic but need more promotion. BEC, TOEIC and Business English Proficiency Standard all show apparent characteristic of communicative language test. We advocated that a business English assessment standard which is more inclusive, practical and shows more cultural diversity could be made.
