Preparation and Photocatalytic Performance of ZnO-γ-Al_2O_3 Composite Nano-particles

The different ZnO loadings ZnO-γ-Al2O3 composite nanoparticles were prepared by homogeneous precipitation method when the γ-Al2O3 was employed as supports.The structure,surface information and specific surface area of the composite nano-particles were characterized by X-ray diffraction(XRD),scanning electron microscopy(SEM) and N2 adsorption.The photocatalytic performance of the composite nanoparticles were appraised using nonylphenyl poly(oxyethylene)ether(NPE-10) as the model pollutants.The results indicated that ZnO was successfully loaded on the surface of γ-Al2O3 and the loading increased with the increase of ZnO content.ZnO thin films were uniformly immobilized on the surface of γ-Al2O3 and the composite nano-particles had the best photocatalytic performance when the mass ratio of ZnO and γ-Al2O3 was 2:1.The influence of calcination temperature,dosage of the composite nano-particles on the photocatalytic performance were investigated.When the dosage of the composite nano-particles which was calcined at 300 ℃ was 0.3 g,it was found that the degradation rate reached more than 96% when it was irradiated by the ultraviolet light for 4 h and more than 90% when it was reused six times.
