Voltammetric Behavior of Azitromycin

In 1. 2 mol/L NaOH solution, a sensitive reductive peak of Azitromycin (AZMC) was observed at - 1. 34V (vs. Ag/AgCl). The voltammetric behavior has been studied by means of cyclic voltammetry, differential pulse polarography and chronocoulometry etc. The number of electron transfer has been determined to be 2. The wave confirmed to be irrversible and adsorptive has been applied to the determination of AZMC. The linear relationship between peak height and the concentration of AZMC held in the range of0. 005 ~ 10mg/L and 0 .05 ~ 20 mg/L by adsoptive differential stripping voltamtry and single sweep polarography, respectively. This method has been used successfully to determine Azitromycin in tablet and capsule.
