Novel Fluorescence Derivatization Reagent for the Determination of Alcohol by High Performance Liquid Chromatography and Fluorescent Detection

A novel fluorescence and ultraviolet labelling reagent, 2 (9 carbazole) ethyl chloroformate, has been utilized as pre column derivatization reagent for 15 aliphatic alcohols. The optimal derivatization conditions were investigated. The results indicate that the derivatizing temperature is at 80℃ and reaction time is 15 min and pyridine is used as catalyst. high performance liquid chromatography coupled with fluorescence detector was studied as a means of separation and determination of alcohols. The derivative baseline resolution has been acuired by optimizing separation condition. The limit of detection is 13.3~93.5 nmol/L.
