Using urea formaldehyde resin, KCl powder and a Ag/AgCl wire as material, a Ag/AgCl solid electrode was prepared. Then using this kind of solid electrode as internal and external reference electrode, respectively, and using a PVC membrance containing ranitidine tetraphenylborate ion pair complex as sensitive element, a combined and full solid state ranitidine ion selective electrode was constructed. The properties of this combined electrode were studied in detail. The results indicated that the combined electrode had a good stability. It exhibited a Nernstian linear range from 5×10 -4 ~ 1×10 -1 mol/L with a slope of 58.7 mV per decade and detection limit of 2.5×10 -4 mol/L. The lifetime of this electrode is at lasts 6 months. It has been used in the potentiometric determination of ranitidine in pharmaceutical preparation.
