Catalytic Kinetic Method for the Determination of Cobalt(Ⅱ) in Water

LI Zhu yun (Biochemistry Science & Technology Instetute, Yantai University, Yantai, 264005)  
In a weak basic medium, cobalt(Ⅱ) can catalyze the decolorizing oxidization of indigo carmine by H 2O 2. A new catalytic spectrophotometric method for the determination of trace Co(Ⅱ) has been obtained. The effect of some factors on the reaction speed was investigated. The sensitivity of the method was 9.92×10 -7 g/L. The linear respondence was in the range of 0~1.0 μg/25 mL. The method has been used to determine trace Co(Ⅱ) in water samples. The relative standard deviations were 4.35~5.43%, for six replicate determination of a single sample. This method was simple and accurate.
