Novel Ag~+-Selective Electrode with Calix[6] arene Derivative as Ionophore

Silver ion-selective electrode is prepared with PVC membranes based on calix arene derivative containing p-carboxyphenyl azo group as ionophore. Several ISEs are conditioned and tested for the selection of common metal ions. The ISEs give typical Nernstian response with a slope of 59 4 mV per decade in the concentration range of 1.0×10 -5~2.0×10 -2 mol·L -1. The ISEs exhibit stable detection reproducibility and high selectivity towards alkali, alkaline earth and transition metal ions except Hg 2+, Cr 3+, Cs +, Na + and Fe 2+. It has been applied successfully as indicator electrode in the titration of AgNO 3 with NaCl.
