Determination of Antimony in Plastics Used for Food Container and Package(high-density polyethylene) by Microwave Digestion-Hydride Generation Atom Fluorescence Spectrometry

A method for determining the content of antimony in plastics used for food container and package(high-density polyethylene) by microwave digestion-hydride generation atom fluorescence spectrometry(HG-AFS) was studied.The optimal analytical conditions in hydrochloric acid medium were studied.The detection limit is 0.3 μg/L and the linear range is 1.0 ~10.0 μg/L.The average recoveries,measured at three concentration levels(0.25 mg/kg,1.0 mg/kg and 2.0 mg/kg),were in the range of 80.4%~106.5% for the tested compound with relative standard deviations below 6.9%.The experiment results showed that this method had advantages such as high sensitivity and accuracy,and was applicable for the detection of antimony in samples.
