Dual-Cloud Point Extraction Coupled with Capillary Electrophoresis to Determine Phenolic Compounds in Natural Water Samples

A method based on dual-cloud point extraction(dCPE)coupled with capillary electrophoresis(CE)to determine phenolic compounds in natural water samples has been studied.Triton X-114 was used as the surfactant and NaOH as the back-extraction reagent for the dCPE of phenol,2,4,6-trichlorophenol and2-nitrophenol.The extraction efficiency was affected by extraction parameters,such as pH,concentration of Triton X-114,equilibration temperature,equilibration time and ion strength.Under the optimum conditions of dCPE and electrophoresis,the detection limits(S/N=3)for phenol,2,4,6-trichlorophenol and 2-nitrophenol were 0.10,0.15 and 0.18μg/mL,the enrichment factors were 24.0,19.3and 20.1and the RSDs(c=2.0μg/mL,n=3)were 3.9%,2.6% and 3.3%,respectively.The developed method was successfully applied to the determination of phenolic compounds in natural water samples.
