Determination of Persistent Organic Pollutants in Folium Artemisiae Argyi by Gas Chromatography-Mass Spectrometry

An analytical method for the determination of persistent organic pollutants in Folium Artemisiae Argyiwas presented.Nineteen organochlorine pesticides and polychlorobiphenyls in Folium Artemisiae Argyi could be analyzed qualitatively and quantitatively using gas chromatography-mass spectrometry(GC-MS)after supersonic extraction with hexane-acetone(1∶1,V/V)at room temperature and purification with sulfuric acid and silica gel column.The results indicated that the recoveries of three levels of 25,50 and 100ng/g were 71.0%-93.6%,79.7%-105.9% and 85.1%-108.7%,respectively,and the corresponding relative standard deviations(RSDs)were 2.4%-11.6%,1.1%-8.6% and 0.9%-7.5%.It was found that,organochlorine pesticides were the major residue in FoliumArtemisiaeArgyiof different batch,polychlorobiphenyls with less chlorine atoms substituted were the minor residue.The simple manipulation,high efficiency and precision of this method allow it to be used as a reliable method for analysis of persistent organic pollutants in FoliumArtemisiaeArgyi.
