Chemical Separation of Zirconium for its Isotopic Measurements

Chemical separation of zirconium from molybdenum was investigated by using bis(2 ethylhexyl) hydrogen phosphate (HDEHP)/cyclohexane solvent extraction. Zr spike solution was prepared succesfully by microwave digestion of ZrO 2 powder in sulfuric acid instead of fussion technique, and the contamination due to fussion process was avoided. The results determined by ICP AES and ICP MS showed that the procedure was suitable for zirconium isotopic measurement.
