Combination Chinese Traditional Culture with Chinese Reading Materials in Chinese Immersion Program——A case study of Chinese Immersion Program at Alice Elementary School

Taking Chinese Immersion Program at Alice Elementary in Louisiana, USA as an example, the article is intended to discuss the basic principles of combining Chinese traditional culture with Chinese reading materials compilation. According to the learning features and learning styles of American elementary students, three principles: instrumentality, interest and comparison can be use in compiling Chinese reading materials. These three principles are based on Chinese teaching practice overseas. They are able to help American elementary students understand Chinese culture, improve their Chinese ability and teaching effect of Chinese Immersion Program.
