Socialist Transformation of Judicial System in Early Soviet Russia

Wang Haijun;
In 1917, the October Revolution was won in Russia, and then the world's first socialist country and regime were established. In the early development of the Soviet government's legal system, the work in the judicial field was particularly prominent. While abolishing the old justice system of the Tsar period, the socialist judicial system began to take shape; the court system was formed by the people's court and the revolutionary tribunal; the pro-curatorial organs became vertically integrated and the pro-curatorial supervision system was also established; the principles of socialist litigation were created and the litigation system was gradually established after the litigation legislation; both the theory and the system concerning the punishment of the criminals also underwent changes. The Russian judicial system was gradually transformed in line with the socialist construction of Soviet Russia, and became the representative of the world's socialist judicial systems at that time. As an important part of the Russian legal and judicial history, the Soviet Russian judicial system should be evaluated objectively by taking into consideration the social development and historical changes. China has an inseparable connection with Soviet Russia in history, so reviewing the development of Soviet Russian judicial process has an epoch-making significance for China's judicial reform and its construction of the rule of law.
