Effects of Exogenous Salicylic Acid on the Physiological Characteristics and Growth of Potato Seedlings under Low Temperature Stress

In order to study the effects of exogenous salicylic acid(SA) on the osmotic adjustment ability and antioxidant capacity of potato leaf under low temperature stress, we used potato Zhengshu 5 as experimental material. 0.5 mmol/L SA was used to spray on the leaf, then after low temperature stress(4℃ 14 h, 2℃ 10 h), we determined the change of physiological indicators such as malondialdehyde, soluble sugar, soluble protein, proline and total content of chlorophyll, as well as the activity of superoxide dismutase and peroxide dismutase. The results showed that the contents of malondialdehyde, soluble sugar, soluble protein, proline and chlorophyll significantly increased, and the activity of superoxide dismutase and peroxide dismutase improved significantly.The study found that exogenous SA could alleviate cell membrane damage and increase low temperature tolerance by regulating osmotic adjustment and antioxidant capacity of potato seedlings.
