HEREDITY PHENOMENON OF PRIOR AUSTENITE GRAIN BOUNDARY IN STEEL

Prior austenite grain boundary heredity(PAGBH) of coarse microstructure of 30CrMnSiNi2A steel is described in this paper. The results of studies show that rate of reheating, temperature of reheating and method of prequenching can affect the PAGBH. The rate of reheating is the most important factor. At different reheating rates, phenomenon of the PAGBH emerges in different degrees and becomes most remarkable at middle reheating rate. Nucleation mode of new austenite grain on the prior austenite grain boundary(PAGB) during reheating, migration characteristic of the PAGB and different distribution of all elements at the PAGB and in austenite grain are key factors which determine whether or not the PAGBH emerges.
