STUDY ON INCLUSION MORPHOLOGY IN CONTINUOUSLY CAST SLAB

The origin of inclusions in continuously cast slab has been studied by means of electrolysis and size distribution analysis. The change in quantity and size of inclusions during continuous casting has also been studied. The results indicate that the amount of large inclusions is reduced considerably during casting and unsatisfactory floating condition is the reason why some large inclusions remain in slab. Some counter-measures are presented.
