INCLUSIONRELATED DEOXIDATION TECHNOLOGY FOR HEAVY RAIL STEEL

The paper describes the effect of various inclusions on the fatigue property of heavy rail steel, indicating that the chain-shape inclusion of Al_2O_3 is most detrimental. If vacuum refining facility is not available, deoxidation with compound alloys should be conducted to reduce and modify Al_2O_3 inclusion; under the conditions of vacuum treatment and continuous casting, Al-free deoxidizing technique must be adopted to reduce Al_2O_3 inclusion, as an effective way to improve the fatigue property of rail steel.
