Effect of Grain Size on the Corrosion Resistance of Corten-B Weathering Steel

Three kinds of Corten-B weathering steels of different grain size with the same chemical composition were prepared by different rolling and heat treat process.The relationship between grain size and atmospheric corrosion resistance of Corten-B weathering steels in industrial atmospheric environment has been investigated by optical microscope,cyclic immersion corrosion test,micro-analysis of rust and electrochemical test.The results show that as the grain size of Corten-B weathering steel decreases from 30 μm to 4 μm,the crack and cavity in the rust after cycle immersion corrosion test decrease,the corrosion rate decreases,rust resistance Rr and corrosion reaction resistance Rt increase,the atmospheric resistance is improved.
