Study of Centerline Segregation in Spring Steel Bloom

In order to discuss the effects of vacuum refining and superheat on spring steel bloom centerline segregation,two production processes are introduced,one is converter→LF→VD →continuous casting,the other is converter →LF→continuous casting.Different degrees of superheat at 30 ℃ and 22 ℃ were separately adopted to produce 60Si2Mn spring steel bloom.Two samples were taken in spring steel bloom,and the segregation of element C and S were analyzed.The results show that after vacuum refining,the biggest carbon segregation index dropped to 1.28 from 1.72,and the largest sulfur segregation index dropped to 1.68 from 2.68.
