Feasibility of Electric Power Self-Support in Iron and Steel Enterprise

Owing to the typical BF-BOF process in an integrated iron and steel enterprise,it produces large plenty of residual heat and energy,which has great potential for recovery.The energy flow as well as the recoverable residual heat and energy resource in a typical iron and steel manufacture process,had been systematically analyzed.It suggests that the residual heat and energy can be recovered as electric power by using present advanced process technology.By building the distributed power generation,the residual heat and energy can be recovered,transported,and reused as close as possible,and so as to make the electric power self-support in iron and steel enterprise.Based on an integrated steel plant of 10 million tons per year in capacity,the residual heat and energy can be recovered by distributed generation system,and the power generation capacity can reach to 4195000MW·h with the average of 419.5kW·h per ton steel.It can be concluded that the electric power self-support or even outer supply in iron and steel enterprise can be completely realized through the residual heat and energy recovered by distributed power generation.
