MATHEMATICAL MODELING OF HEAT TRANSFER IN THE VICINITY OF MENISCUS IN CC MOLD

A model has been developed to compute temperature distribution in the vicinity of meniscus in CC mold with control volume method,and then a group of data of experimental continuous casting machine constructed at Kashima Steel Works is used to verify the mathematical models The calculated results include:temperature distribution,shell surface temperature,thickness of shell,the shape and size of slag rim,width of slag film After analyzing temperature distribution,the paper shows that partial solidification of meniscus is the basic reason for oscillation marks on strand
