EFFECT OF N/Al RATIO ON MICROSTRUCTURE AND PROPERTIES OF A508 3 STEEL FOR NUCLEAR REACTOR PRESSURE VESSEL

The effect of the acid soluble nitrogen/acid soluble aluminum ratio on the microstructure and properties of A508 3 steel for nuclear reactor pressure vessel has been investigated The experimental results show that the strength of the steel little changes as N/Al ratio increases,whereas the ductility increases and the FATT and NDTT decrease The FATT and NDTT decrease more obviously as N/Al ratio varies from 0 33 to 0 54,when N/Al ratio are 0 54 and 0 81 the FATT and NDTT not change The microstructure shows that as N/Al ratio increasing the grain refines,the size of bainite ferrite plates and the average diameter of carbides decrease,the carbides become more disperisive
