Simplified Method for Analyzing Foundation Settlement Considering Effect of Embedment

In this paper,a simplified method for calculating the foundation settlement considering the effect of embedment is presented on the basis of Mindlin theory. An equivalent settlement factor, Ψ m is introduced in this method, which makes the method more simple and practical. In the end, some cases are analyzed with this method and it is shown that the method has certain values for engineering application.
