TRANSFUSIDN TRANSMITTED VIRUS INFECIION IN PATIENTS WITH HEPATITIS B

Objective To investigate transfusion transmitted virus infection in patients with hepatitis B. Methods The serum TTV DNA was detected by dot blot hybridization. Results Out of 128 patients with hepatitis B, 16( 12.5% )patients were positive for serum TTV DNA. There was no statistical difference in TTV DNA positivity between patients with acute and with chronic hepatitis B( 13.1 % vs, 12.2%) ; There was also no statistical difference in degree of liver function damage between hepatitis B patients with and without TTV infection. Conclusion The virulence of TTV is yet to be elucidated.
