EXPERIMENTAL STUDY ON SHOCK INITIATIONS OF EMULSION NEXPLOSIVES

The shock initiations of emulsion explosives are studied on activator and light gas gun in this paper,The critical shock initiation energies of both emulsion matrix and emulsion explosive are higher than those of conventional high energy explosives such as TNT, PETN and RDX. The critical shock initiation energy of emulsion explosives is not in agreement with the law of p￣2τ=const.Critical initiation pressure is sharply decreased as the duration of shock is longer.Therefore, the shock initiation chara-cteristics of emulsion explosives under the condition of a low shock and long time should be noticed. The maximum experimental detonation pressure of emulsion explosives whicli are sensitized by gases is 16.68 GPa and the time of propagation of detonation wave is2.3～2.5 μs. of propagation of detonation wave is 2.3～2.5μs.
