Experimental Study on Mechanical Properties of Adobe Masonry under Axial Compression

As an old material,adobe material is still largely used in China. In recently years,however,because of frequent earthquakes,houses made of adobe has brought about large number of casualties and property losses. By manufacturing plain adobe masonry,modified materials masonry,adobe masonry reinforced by ferrocement,the construction technology of adobe masonry is analyzed. By making an comparison of axial compression among different kinds of adobe masonry,the compressive properties and destruction features of adobe masonry in different types under axial compression are studied,a method about adobe masonry reinforced by ferrocement is put forward and it provides some references for building renovation and reinforcement in the future.
