EXPERIMENTAL STUDY ON SEISMIC BEHAVIOR OF A NEW TYPE OF FULLY ASSEMBLED BEAM-COLUMN JOINTS

This paper presents a new type of joints connecting square steel tube column and H beam, which are fabricated with full bolts. In order to study the seismic performance of the joints, the quasi static test of six 1∶2 specimen were carried out under cyclic loads. The effects of axial compression ratio, bending resistance, shear bolt pre-tension, groove shape steel thickness, dog bone connection and other parameters on the failure mode, hysteretic behavior and ductility of the joints were analyzed. The results show that within a certain range(0.2~0.4), as the axial compression ratio increases, the ultimate bearing capacity of the joint becomes slightly lower, but the energy dissipation capacity and ductility are increased; as the pre-tension of the shear bolt decreases, the ultimate bearing capacity of the joints, the energy dissipation capacity and the ductility coefficient are reduced; as the plate thickness of the groove shaped steel decreases, the bearing capacity and the relative angle of the joint become larger, but the energy consumption is reduced; as the pre-tension of the anti-bending bolt decreases, the ultimate bearing capacity of the joint is increased, but the energy dissipation capacity and the ductility coefficient are reduced; although tearing occurs at the weakened position of beam flange in the dog bone connection in loading stage, joints exhibit good ductility, energy dissipation capacity and stable stiffness degradation performance. The story drift ductility ratios is μ=2~2.66, elastic limit of story drift ration is φ_y=0.0208~0.0327, elastic-plastic limit of story drift rotation ratio is φ_u=0.0486~0.079, and relative plastic rotation limit of beam-column is θ_u=0.05~0.087. The equivalent viscous damping coefficient is h_e=0.287~0.45. The test results show that the joint has good seismic performance.
