Characteristics of Temperature Variations of Liannan County and Their Relationships with ENSO

Using monthly temperature data of Liannan County from 1962 to 2014 and NOAA Ni1 o 3. 4sea surface temperature anomalies(SSTA) and with the methods of least square,running mean,abrupt change test and wavelet analysis,we studied the characteristics of temperature variation in the county over the 53 years and their relationships with the ENSO. The result is shown as follows. The temperature shows an increasing tendency over the 53 years,with a climatological tendency rate of 0. 010 8 ℃/year. The rate is 0. 017 9 ℃/year for the winter,which contributes the most to the temperature variation. For Liannan county,a point of abrupt temperature change occurred in 1990 and a rising trend was much more obvious in2000. For the autumn,the abrupt change point was in 1986 while there was no such points for the spring,summer or winter. The temperature of these three seasons are positively correlated with the ENSO while that of summer is negatively correlated with it. The effect of ENSO on the temperature of Liannan county is most significant in the year afterwards. Wavelet analysis reveals that the temperature and SSTA vary periodically at a cycle of 6 to 7 years in the county.
