The Application of Space Variable Resolution to Automatic Focusing

It is very important to realize automatic focusing quickly and effectively in the course of capturing digital images. A method for judgement of focusing is put forward in the paper. A simulation model is established by simulating the space variation of resolution in retina of human vision system and the data analysis is carried out. The experiment shows that a large field of view and less data processing can be maintained when the high resolution is kept by using of the proposed model. The original processing speed is improved on the basis of keeping the focusing accuracy. The model has certain advantage in focusing method. It has a good application prospect in robot vision system and digital imaging system.
