Spectra sort encoding algorithm for target extraction

In order to improve the precision of target extraction in optical remote sensing,widen application scope of target extraction method and to improve the capability of intelligent information extraction,a Spectral Sort Encoding(SSE) algorithm was presented from the viewpoint of combining band intensity and spectral shape properties together.Firstly,its principle was introduced in detail.End member spectrum and image spectrum was ordered according to band intensity,and their similarity was calculated by comparing band positions in the same sequence number between two ordered spectra.Then,a precision contrast experiment between SSE and other two target detection methods named Constrained Energy Minimization(CEM) and Spectrally Second-order Derivate(SSD) was performed.Experimental results show that target detection precision of SSE is 95% which is 41.9% higher than that of CEM and 46.9% higher than that of SSD.Finally,its target detection capability in application scope was validated using SPOT and AVIRIS images.Experiment results indicate that SSE can be used not only in multi-spectral remote sensing,but also in hyperspectral remote sensing.In a word,SSE is fast in velocity,high in precision and wide in application scope.
