Measurement of the Combustion Time Parameters of Gasoline Engine by Means of Optic Fiber Combustion Sensor

A measuring system consisting of the optic fiber combustion sensor and OMA4 multichannel spectral analyzer is presented in the paper and it has been applied to the measuring of the combustion flame spectrum of the gasoline engine.The spectral analysis results prove that the flame spectrum is formed by the adding together of the characteristic spectra of the free radial such as CH(431.5nm),C 2(516.4nm,H 2O(589nm) in the combustion flame and the continuous thermal radiation spectrum of particle C.The important time parameters such as ignition delay and burning lasting time in the combustion process of the gasoline engine can be determined according to the light intensity peak variation of H 2O in the spectral curves.Since the variation in the gasoline combustion cycle is large,compared with the measuring system consisting of monochromator and BOXCAR integral averaging device,the measuring system consisting of OMA4 multichannel spectral analyzer and optic fiber combustion sensor has the advantages of high measuring accuracy and operating efficiency in measuring the flame spectrum of gasoline engine.
