Application of Markov Decision Process in Condition Based Maintenance

In current condition based maintenances (CBM),the maintenance time is obtained by experience or simple check of trend, which leads to inaccuracy and un-practicability. Base on the decision making with maintenance or no maintenance, this paper studies a way of describing the deteriorating process using Markov process and the decision making process with the objective of minimizing the average cost. Also the paper gives the arithmetic to get the control limit policy of maintenance. An example is presented to demonstrate the process.
